Global Active Christian Development led by Rev Robert Addai Aboagye,has donated rice to widows within Kumawu-Dadease electoral area in the Sekyere Kumawu district of the Ashanti region as part of celebration of Christmas and new year festivities.
The donation was made possible through the Assembly member of the area,Hon Kofi Adade who doubles as a senior reporter with Oyerepa radio/TV in Kumasi,the Ashanti regional capital.
The presentation was done by Robert Adade Aboagye,the executive director for Global Active Christian Development.
Rev.Aboagye called on everyone, especially widows to depend on God.
He appealed to well-to-do people to stretch their support to the needy to attain God’s blessings.
Speaking at a short ceremony,Hon.Kofi Adade expresses his profound grateful to the NGO on behalf of the widows.The Assembly member for Kumawu -Dadease seized the opportunity to talk about some challenges his community members were facing.
He mentioned that the main challenged associated with the community is lack of land for farming.
According to him, colanut was the main crops the community used to work on but later changed to cultivation of cassava .He said all the surrounded communities come to Dadease to buy and currently they have a market center.
According to him, almost all the land there are sandy soil and the heads of the families have sold them out for sand winning and that has left the farmers stranded as they get no land for farming .
This according to him,has affected the community members economically.
He called on stakeholders and NGOs to assist the community especially the citizens leaving outside the community in any support for their living.
