The Grassroots’ Man, Dr. Akoto Leads by Heeding to Party’s Directives by Pulling Down all Banners ahead of Conference
In strict adherence to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) directives that seek to ban all activities associated with the Party’s internal contest ahead of the NPP Annual Delegates Conference. A founding member of the Party and a senior cabinet minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, affectionately called “The Legend” has led by adhering to the directives. He has therefore directed that all billboards portraying his image within the Greater Kumasi enclave and Ashanti region at large be pulled down.
Dr. Akoto is a biological son of Okyeame Baffour Akoto; “the most prominent founder of the United Party (UP) Tradition”. He is currently perceived by many political pundits and researchers as the most popular among the potential NPP Presidential Aspirants.
This singular act by the Minister goes a long way to confirm that he respects the decisions of the leadership of the party and the rules of engagement for the conduct of the NPP internal primaries.
In a press release signed by the Director of Communications of NPP, Lawyer Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, the Party stated that, though they cherish the competition, the conference is a time of renewal aimed at enhancing party unity.
Hence, “Prior to and during the conference on 18th to 20th December, 2021, no billboards, banners or any kind of outdoor signage with the images and names of individual members, with or without the consent of the individual, should be avoided.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a Patron of the Party has therefore led by example with the adherence of this directive for other prospective aspirants to emulate.
