The Deputy National Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahen has revealed that he is no longer interested in the General Secretary position of the party, rather, has been asked to be the campaign manager for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia come 2024 elections.
According to him, though he was lacing his boot towards the General Secretary Position, he has been advised from the above to slate as the campaign manager for Dr Bawumia.
He said the reasons for the calls for such a position are quite simple and will outline them when the time comes.
The Deputy Secretary made this known on Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio when commenting on the recent issue regarding the clash between the military personnel and youth of Ejura over the killing of #Fixthecountry campaigner, Kaaka Ibrahim Mohammed.
Touching on the issue, Lawyer Boahen noted that sympathizers and members of the opposition NDC should be careful and not over-politicize the issue as innocent lives have been lost.
He said “For me, I will say that the casualties after death are quite unfortunate and unacceptable, but we need to get a committee to look into it. But why will people especially members of the NDC start concluding that the victim, Kaaka die as a result of the handily work of NPP members? I think that our brothers from the NDC should tone down a little. It is a very unfortunate incident and they(NDC) should not dwell on it to gain cheap political points.”
He, however, called on the national security and the government to as matter of urgency find lasting solutions to the issue as it does not speak well for the country’s long democracy.
