Re: Party Office and Matters arising; setting the records straight ~ Keskine Owusu Poku
I have taken notice of an audio in circulation presumably from Nana Afia, Secretary to Chairman Wontumi. In the said audio two main allegations are made.
1. That I have taken pictures of the current state of the regional party office at my recent visit to the party office.
Response: This allegation is false. *But rarely, why should this be an issue even if I had taken pictures at the party office?*
Thus far, Nana Afia or any other person has not been able to point to just one of the said pictures. No one can also point to any such picture on my FB wall or any social media platform posted by me.
While I believe that there is a need for a change in leadership in Ashanti Region, I am minded to protect the collective good of the party.
Secondly, all party faithfuls who visit the regional party office know the state of the office and I humbly think that it wouldn’t and shouldn’t take me (as Keskine) to bring it to their notice. I therefore find this mischievous attempt to draw me into this matter ridiculous and very dubious. If there is a more reasonable allegation Nana Afia can make against my person, she should rather than such flimsy and unfounded lies.
2. A second and the last allegation is about influencing the landlady of the rented apartment that serves as the regional party office.
Response: I find this highly ridiculous especially when I am not privy to whatever contractual agreements that were signed with the owner. Secondly, I do not even know the owner or any of her relative (neither have I met them before) to have even peddled an influence. Again, I wasn’t at the party office when the said incident happened. Why then will anyone needlessly and irresponsibly draw me into this? For Christ sake, *”how do I even matter in this tenancy issue if someone is not just out for mischief?*
Assuming there are no arrears, what prevent leadership from confronting the landlady with the tenancy agreement they were given? Frankly, I think that is the commonsensical thing to do.
Respectfully, I wish to reiterate that I have taken no such pictures and have no knowledge of the rents issues and tenancy agreement of the party office.
*Facts of my visit to the party office on Monday*
I visited the party office around 3:30pm on Monday, November 15, 2021 for two reasons:
1. To discuss with Kwasi Kyei how we were going to prep the Communicators before the reading of the budget on Wednesday (just two days away from my visit). This discussion was done in the presence of a visitor I had met in the office (just for reference sake).
2. On an invite from the Otec School of Journalist to inaugurate their Tescon (a program I was later informed was rescheduled to Wednesday and finally happened on Friday).
I left when I was notified that it has been postponed (not to talk of the insults rained on me by Nana Afia for visiting the party office on Shamsu’s phone).
It is clear from the foregoing that someone decided to blame me for no reason. Secondly, if there is any debt, leadership should do the honorable thing. If there is none, leadership should confront the landlady with the tenancy agreement.
I will also be happy if Nana Afia will come clear on who, where and how I did all these things she dubiously alleged.
I hope this settles the case.
