The Former constituency chairman for New Patriotic Party’s Fomena branch, Akwasi Nti has exposed his close friend-now-turned-rival, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi for reproducing an old video to deceive the public as if he (Akwasi Nti) now supports his chairmanship bid.
According to Akwasi Nti, the video in circulation was taken on May 1, 2020 when they were both celebrating their birthdays and was speaking on Wontumi Television.
Since then however, the former chairman who has been the twice campaign manager of Chairman Wontumi and a close ally, says his friend should step aside for a fresher brain to lead the party in the region.
In an audio made to counter the video being supposedly shared by Wontumi television, Mr. Akwasi Nti urged delegates in the region to ignore the video as he has since changed his mind about Wontumi’s continuous stay in office as Regional Chairman.
“I am happy they themselves are circulating that video on social media, if I am the one who brought you and led you to win elections and I am now saying you are a bad product, only a fool does not change his mind.
“The party does not belong to just one person, for us to leave him to amass all the good things in the party. As we talk, even during a meeting by chairmen in his house, he will be talking about the cost of his expensive cars while the chairmen would be hungry,” he said in the audio.
According to him, it had to take some of them to give their colleague chairmen money to buy food whiles Chairman Wontumi lavish in wealth.
He said they on several occasions advised Chairman Wontumi to stop bragging about his extravagant lifestyle and wealth but fail to heed their advice.
“We as a party want to break the eight, but if this man doesn’t leave there, it won’t be well with us. To me I don’t want a chairman who would declare his support to one candidate, I want a chairman who can bring unity into the party after the elections,” he said.
Chairman Akwasi Nti urged all NPP delegates in the region to work hard and vote for a chairman who would be fair to them as party members. urging them to “ignore any video showing me declare my support for Wontumi, it’s an old video.”James Appiakorang
