Hon.Kwabena Nsenkyire, Ashanti Region first vice chairman of NPP and Ashanti regional Minister’s representative at the Sekyere Kumawu confirmation ceremony has stated emphatically that Thursday’s election held to confirm Hon.Samuel Addai Agyekum has been annulled based on legal grounds..
According to him,a new date be set for the confirmation because the electoral commission didn’t prepare well for the exercise.
He revealed that the electoral commission which was responsible in conducting the election didn’t print enough ballots to enable them run the election on the confirmation of the DCE nominee on the same day upon realising that four of the appointees who voted had their appointment revoked and had been replaced by the President through Ashanti regional Minister, Hon.Simon Osei-Mensah.
He said a new date would be set to run the election again after the nominee,Hon.Addai Agyekum failed to secure 2/3 of the members during the first attempt.
Mr Kwabena Nsenkyire, who represented the Regional Minister at the meeting blamed the Coordinating Director for bringing information to his attention late and therefore apologized and promised to notify the Regional Minister to draw the attention of the EC on the mishaps.
