The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has hinted that the government was working very hard to ensure the eradication of the annual examination malpractice in the country.
He explained that, currently the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the West Africa Examination Center (WAEC) and other stakeholders are putting in place measures to curb the practice through serialization and digitization which leads to the setting of ten different versions of the same examination making it extremely difficult to cheat.
Dr Adutwum announced this when he briefed the media after touring some selected West African Senior High School Certificate Examination centres in Accra.
Some of the centres visited are the Frafraha Community Senior High School, West African SHS and the Kwabenya SHS
The Education Minister recounted some people out of the crave for more set up rogue websites to sell fake WAEC questions to unsuspecting students who out of ignorance patronize such site after which their moneys are collected of distorted by the site operators.
He was upbeat that, with the measures being put in place it would be very risky patronizing such websites.
At the Frafraha Community SHS, the Minister was able to interact with some candidates before they started their English II examination.
He urged the candidates to remain focused and be disciplined as they continued to write the examination, so they do not have any challenge with the laws of the land.
Dr Adutwum also urged them to be confident and avoid any act that will affect the sanctity of the examination
In a related development, the two Deputy Ministers of Education Rev. John Ntim Fordjour and Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo also visited some selected examination centers in the eastern Region.
Whereas Rev Ntim Fordjour visited Mount Sinai SHS, Mamfe Methodist Girls SHS, Mampong Secondary Technical for the Deaf, Mampong Presbyterian SHS and Aburi Girls SHS while Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo on her part went to Saviour SHS, AME Zion SHS all at Kukurantumi.
