New Patriotic Party’s affiliate youth group, Concern Youth, has sent word to the party demanding the immediate reinstatement of three polling stations executives from the Savelugu Constituency who were dismissed over their refusal to endorse Vice President Mahamud Bawumia’s 2024 Presidential bid. The group has described the dismissal of the three youth leaders as a coup and has accordingly given party executives in Savelugu a week ultimatum to reconsider their decision or have them to contend with.
The three suspended polling station executives, Deishini Abdallah Mustapha, Issahaku Fuseini and Abdul Karim Zakaria, in the aftermath of the annual constituency delegate conference held press briefings where they accused the regional leadership of attempts to coerce them into endorsing the Presidential ambitions of the Vice President, an accusation the leadership vehemently denied and thereafter instituted a disciplinary action against the three which eventually led to their temporary suspension.
But in the view the Concern Youth Group, the sacked executives committed no crime by publicly refusing to endorse the candidacy of the vice president as wanted to be thrown down their throats by constituency and regional leadership of the party. In a statement, the group said instead of the being condemned, the three executives should be hailed because their actions fall in line with party guidelines which stipulates that no member or group should hold campaign activities for themselves or for any potential candidate or aspirant until such time that the party declares so at any level of contest.
Expressing their surprise at the position of the leadership, the group if there is anybody who should be punished, it should be the Savelugu Constituency executives and allies who sought to compromise regulations set by the party to guide the behaviours of adherents to the ideals of the elephants
