“Our message to the leadership of the Party and for that matter Government is simple; They should address our concerns or else,we would advise ourselves. Our doors are widely opened for dialogue if they so wish”

The above advised was contained in a press statement by Three (3) Northern NPP supporters-An identifiable group affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) addressed by Mr.Joseph Amongya,Spokesperson with support of Mohammed Ibrahim,Organizer and Samuel Azuma respectively at a well attended press conference held at Asawasi Monday 14th September ,2020.

The full statement reads “,.1.We the leadership of THREE (3) NORTHERN NPP SUPPORTERS-An identifiable group affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would like to express our disappointment with the manner in which the leadership of the party and for that matter, the government is treating us.

The group whose membership is made up of mainly people of the then three (3) regions of the Northness was formed since 2008 it has been operation till 2016 with the sole aim of advancing the course of the party among the northness, especially those within settler communities in the southern part of the country.

The spokesperson addressing the media

This in the minds of the founding members of the group was to educate people of the north in those settler communities about the policies of the party and to disabuse their minds about the notion that NPP is an Akan Party.

The statement

2.The group in the run up to the 2016 elections embarked on an aggressive village to village and house to house campaign aimed at convincing our brothers and sisters who hitherto voted for the NDC to change their minds and vote for the NPP.

Besides ,the group donated a pick-up to the party and funded three buses to convey people to the north to vote majority of its activities personally.

People such as Agyasei-Office of the President,Mrs.Elizabeth Agyemang-Deputy Ashanti regional Minister,Hon.Osei Prempeh, former MP,Nsuta constituency,Nana Oppong-Office of the President in charge of Logistics and Transport,Mr.Sam Pyne-Ashanti regional Secretary,Honourable Asamoah Boateng-DCE,Amansie Central,ProfessoreDjan Baffour-Minister of Planning,Dr.Kwame Amoako Tuffour-Senior adviser to the President and Patron of the group and even Chairman Wontumi will bear witness to these facts.

3.One remarkable achievements of the group was the fact that it helped in aborting the NDC’s target of obtaining one million votes in Ashanti in the 2016 elections.

That target of the NDC per our intelligence, was to use voters within the settler communities to achieve it.But we aborted it, following our strategy that involved assigning persons who speak a common dialect with their assigned homes so that better understanding of our message could be achieved.

Despite

all those efforts by the group, the group has been marginalized after the party took over the reign of power in 2017.

In conclusion, “Our message to the leadership of the Party and for that matter Government is simple; They should address our concerns or else,we would advise ourselves. Our doors are widely opened for dialogue if they so wish”
